Job Title:         Training and Talent Acquisition Specialist

Reports to:      SVP Human Resources

Department:   Human Resources

FLSA:             Exempt

Position Overview:  Position is responsible for overseeing and leading training and development programs and talent acquisition, along with other generalist duties as assigned.  Training responsibilities would include platform selection and training, delivery and development, conducting and tracking training programs for the workforce in the areas of annual compliance training, developmental training, etc., at multiple Rawlings locations. Talent Acquisition responsibilities include full staffing process: sourcing, screening, interviewing, evaluation and offer processes, while using an applicant tracking program integrated within the ADP payroll system. Also includes assisting in a team capacity with other HR-related projects and initiatives.

Training and Development:

  • Assess current training programs and formulate a training platform to address immediate needs to ensure legal compliance (federal and state), and longer-term plans for departmental and individual developmental needs.
  • Create training development plans complete with materials, tutorials, instructions, and learning resources such as modules, online training and guides
  • Organize and record training data to maintain accurate training records for compliance and consistency of employee development.
  • Develop master training schedule to assess training needs yearly

Talent Acquisition:

  • Develop and implement diverse sourcing strategies, including referral program, position postings, direct sourcing, media sources, networking and job fairs
  • Build a network of contacts and pipeline for current and future opportunities.  Manage and maintain relationships with external vendors as needed.  Build relationships with employment agencies, schools, and organizations to help recruit top talent
  • Attend job fairs to recruit prospective employees, marketing internal culture externally so prospective employees
  • Manage, maintain and support current recruiting processes and tools to ensure best practice and consistency Partner with hiring managers to develop recruiting strategies that align with business needs
  • Screen and interview candidates to determine skill set and level of interest
  • Ensure a positive candidate experience through thorough communication and timely feedback, as well as interviewer preparedness and effective interview formats
  • Gather and review interview feedback from interviewers and make recommendations on the most qualified candidates
  • Maintain applicant tracking system to ensure accurate and up-to-date information including all steps of the hiring process.
  • Ensure all hiring paperwork is completed and all required screening protocols are performed including but not limited to interviews, references, background checks, drug screens, I-9 verification and system processing.

 HR Generalist Activities may include:

  • Assist with employee committee for company outings, volunteer days or our annual events, etc. Perform other Human Resources duties and  projects as required or assigned.
  • Assist with organizational development planning.
  • Lead or participate in HR-related activities and projects as assigned.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field required. SPHR/PHR  certification preferred
  • Minimum five years of sourcing and/or full cycle recruiting experience with proven success in delivering positive results.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide effective, productive training through teaching classes, facilitation of classes and developing company developmental training. HRIS platform experience;  prefer ADP Workforce Now -- recruitment, training tools, learning on-line, etc.Strong customer management skills with ability to build trust and credibility with both candidates & hiring managers
  • In-depth knowledge of recruitment and hiring trends, job market/employment trends, and creative approaches to recruitment.  Sourcing expertise utilizing a range of methods including LinkedIn
  • General knowledge of HR related federal regulations and compliance requirements, e.g., FMLA, ADA, etc.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of integrity and confidentiality; strong judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to be flexible, open to change, and adaptable.  Strong teamwork and diversity awareness and ability to recognize and welcome differences among people and resolve conflicts respectfully an in a timely manner
  • Organizational and time management skills and ability to prioritize requests and department activities
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, written and oral; capable of communicating at all levels
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Proven writing skills, e.g., sentence structure, punctuation, grammar.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills
  • Able to travel occasionally
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, internal employees or organizations.  Must have proven exceptional written presentation and verbal communication skills. 


  • Strong math aptitude with ability to prepare HR data reports and analysis.


  • Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
