Job Title:         Sourcing Manager Indirect Materials/Logistics Services

Department:    Operations-Procurement

Reports to:       Sr. Director-Procurement

Job Purpose:Strategic Sourcing of Indirect Material and Transportation to achieve business plan objectives.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage key performance measures including: Supplier performance, including product cost, quality and delivery.
  •  Lead negotiations for both indirect materials and logistics services across all Rawlings locations.
  •  Understand and develop global preferred supply base to ensure product availability.  Maintain a thorough understanding of strategic suppliers' capabilities, key personnel, business conditions, and financial stability.
  •  Work effectively and cross-functionally with the plants and warehouses to ensure sourcing strategies are comprehensive and communicated to appropriate functions of the company.
  •  Develop and maintain positive, long-term supplier relationships.
  •  Effectively lead action plans associated with sourcing strategy (e-sourcing, re-sourcing, cost reductions, supplier development, etc.) and manage supplier transitions
  •  Maintain a thorough understanding of the cost drivers associated with the products.
  •  Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of strategic suppliers' capabilities, key personnel, business conditions, and financial stability.
  •  Rationalize the supply base to insure an appropriate number of suppliers for a given product balancing risk and leverage.
  •  Ability to solve problems and react in a rapidly changing environment.
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.


  • Job Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Education Required:
  • College education required (Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering preferred) and 3-5 years procurement experience.
  •  3-5 years negotiations experience is both materials and logistics services
  •  Strong written and oral communication skills.
  •  Knowledge an experience with Microsoft Office products. Purchasing system experience required, JD Edwards experience preferred.

 Working Conditions:

General office working conditions with periodic domestic and international travel.

 Language Skills

Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry. 

 Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
