Job Title:        Credit & Collections Specialist

Department:   Credit Department

Reports to:      Credit Manager

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

General Overview: 

Responsibilities include maintaining customer alliances regarding full financial settlement initiatives based on root cause analysis, and strategic imperatives for a distinct customer base.  Interact with customers, sales management and numerous internal areas that have an impact on the revenue settlement cycle.   Resolve customer accounts receivable deductions for assigned accounts understanding the complexities of the business and the distinct customer base for both Rawlings US and Canada.

 Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Optimize cash flow through timely turnover of Accounts Receivable focused on understanding the complexities of the Rawlings Business.
  • Analyze AR understanding the specific nuances of the customer base. Manual reconciliation of customer discrepancies and constant communication with customers via phone and email.
  • Collaborate with the Credit Manager and Credit Analyst to appropriately identify risk customers and enforce credit terms, limits and restrictions.
  • Good understanding of customer requirements, and programs.
  • Assists with A/R integration efforts on special projects as assigned.
  • Partners with Accounting staff to improve the deduction process and work the accounts more effectively.
  • Investigate, resolve and clear all customer deductions such as short pays, trade spend, returns/destroy in field, etc.
  • Pursue repayment of invalid deductions utilizing AR counterpart.
  • Work with Customer Service, Sales, Supply Chain, Distribution, IT, and other departments to improve current processes to eliminate deductions where possible.
  • Understand customer websites (where applicable) and how to retrieve deduction backup with a large volume of manual customers.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend solutions.
  • Review aging deductions with Manager to ensure meeting DDO/balance goals.
  • Ability to analyze and reconcile customer accounts. Actively participate in ongoing team training and cross-functional teamwork to ensure accounts are worked efficiently.
  • Share best practices that result in process improvements.
  • Process credit memos accurately and timely to clear valid deductions and keep deduction balance down.

 Key Relationships:

  • Sales, Customer Service, Finance & Accounting, and Supply Chain Organizations for implementation of best practice for efficient full settlement.


  • Some travel may be required

 Job Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Accounting, Business or Finance preferred.
  • 3-5 years accounts receivable (Credit & collections) experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Process management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated systems/technical skills, including ERP (preferably JDE) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Must have a teamwork orientation.

  • Occasional non-standard work hours or overtime as business requires at month-end and/or seasonally.


Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, ability to write advertising, reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.  Must have proven exceptional written presentation and verbal communication skills.    

 Mathematical Skills:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of complicated math and algebra and analysis skills. 

 Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
